A series of animations to get GCSE students to understand chemistry.

Fuse School

Fuse School, the educational charity arm of Fuse Universal, commissioned a series of GCSE chemistry animations to make the subject more accessible to secondary school students.

Goals
  • Support visual and auditory learners who struggle to engage with textbooks
  • Remove the cognitive load of picturing abstract concepts
  • Level the playing field for students with dyslexia, or for whom English is an additional language
  • Create content that can be paused, rewatched, and studied at the student's own pace
Execution
  • Produced 25 animations covering key GCSE chemistry topics
  • Worked directly with science educators at every stage, to ensure the sequencing reflected how students actually build understanding of each concept
  • Complex processes are broken into discrete steps, giving students time to absorb each stage before moving to the next
  • Visual cues direct attention to what matters at each moment
Outcomes
  • Animations published as part of Fuse School's YouTube channel, which has grown to over 900,000 subscribers
  • Content reaches a global community of students and educators who rely on the channel as a trusted learning resource
  • Helped position chemistry as approachable and genuinely enjoyable
